ampman Tesla use 6000 cells - (i think?), but micra is only 48V yes.

i think 150-200cells (maybe more) in parallel this is 1 module - and now 13 module i connect in series and we have 48V.

i save easy 200kg and give more range.

Well you would have to be RICH as well as crazy to do it with such small cells - it will be a nightmare!  Really it won't be fun - although I know you would make an excellent job of it!

If you really want LIFEPO4 then 16 x 200amphr cells would be simpler.

Still I don't think it's the battery that is the 'limiting factor' in your set up ... a new BRUSHLESS motor and controller would give you better performance - with the same batteries you already have.

On this movie you see cheap but good battery - 60cells in 1 module - i think ~ 150Ah max on module, 20 module is 74Volt.
My battery have plan 150-200cells on module. [crazy]

so each cell will cost >£5 (at cheapest), so each module > £1000

[crazy]

compare that to a 200amph Winston cell (around £200)

ampman i dont need buy new cells - 1200cells this is 200 laptop battery with 6 cells in battery. But i can buy new laptop battery with 9 or 12 cells. 12 cells battery is 100battery - max 10£ per battery is 1000£ still is ok yes. But what if we buy old laptop battery - is max 1£per battery - 200£ max you spend on battery.

Ampman i try build cheap battery.

ok but remember laptop battery are usually some form of Lithium ion (Not LIFEPO4) ... so much greater fire risk if short circuit [eek]

I think good temperature sensor and good cooling system and will be good.
In this moment I finish check 1200 cells and starting build first modul.

Amerjack I think you like giving yourself difficult tasks.
For anyone else I would say it is going to be a hard job, but I already know you never give up [smile]

Will be interested to see what you make

Amerjack ... are you married? If so, tell your wife I think you are very stubborn! haha

This is a really bad idea to try and run a car from hundreds of laptop batteries ... and will just cost you lots of money and be a nightmare to manage ... but you wont listen [biggrin]

I tried this many years ago (using 10amhr Headway cells) and I learnt a big difference between Electrics and Mechanics..., in the sensitivity of electronic components

The more cells, the more connections, the more problems.

Even using 200amph big cells, you need 16 to get to 48v. Cells need balancing, and sometimes "die".

You have never answered my question about what is the top speed your car will currently do?
I think that (series) motor and (curtis) controller will be the "weak spot". The current batteries you have are not bad, just a bit heavy.

So what is your current top speed with your system right now? A different brushless motor and controller might make the difference you are seeking.

Hi amerjack.
I like the way you're making your car. I am building my own, but I stuck on self characterization on my controller. By the way, let me show you my mini tesla battery, build by me, with a little help from the soldering iron.
Also, you can make a nice 13S35P Battery with 450 cells if they are ok.
Best regards.

The Electric cars are the future cars and they are already loved by thousands of customers. When I decided to replace my classic car my so suggested getting EC and also gave me a helpful Electric car buyers guide to know more about them. That guide helped me a lot with everything related to EC.
